MAXIMIZE YOUR SOLAR SAVINGS WITH INCENTIVES and REBATES
Homeowners and businesses can take advantage federal, state, and local incentives to reduce the overall costs of installing clean energy systems, both upfront and over time.
Individuals that pay federal income taxes currently receive the best incentive, but local utilities also have paybacks as do some municipalities.
The Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE) is a free, government-funded resource that tracks every available clean energy incentive in the United States.
Here's how to use it:
Go to www.dsireusa.org
Click on the map to select your state
Filter results by technology (e.g., Solar PV) or sector (e.g., Residential or Commercial)
Explore detailed listings on tax credits, rebates, exemptions, and grant programs
Each listing includes eligibility requirements, application deadlines, and links to official documents and contacts.
Xcel
Learn about how you can become a part of an incentivized program for solar panels on YOUR home! Xcel Solar Rewards Receive monthly payments for the surplus energy that your panels create, but more importantly you can use the grid to store your excess production until you need it.
Depending on where you live, you may qualify for additional savings, including: sales and use tax exemptions, property tax exclusions, utility company rebates, net metering programs and more.
While DSIRE includes utility and local programs, you may also want to check:
State energy offices (e.g., Colorado Energy Office)
Public Utility Commissions (e.g., Colorado PUC renewables)
Individual utility provider sites (e.g., Xcel Energy’s Solar*Rewards)
These sources are independently maintained and often change based on shifting budgets or policy.
Mountain Parks
Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. offers net metering for renewable energy production as well as a local rebate of up to $1,000. Please see their website here for more information about this program.
